The Polish Association of International Studies, the Institute of Political Science of the University of Gdansk and the College of Arts and Sciences of the Qatar University are delighted to invite you to participate in the 2nd edition of the international conference “Contemporary Arab and Muslim World in International Relations”. The conference will be held at the University of Gdańsk (Poland) from 13 to 14 October 2016. The invitation is addressed to scholars, researchers, experts and professionals interested in studies of the Arab and Muslim World and the Middle East.
The first conference was held in Gdańsk on September 24, 2015. It was followed by publication of a collection of papers prepared by academics from all over the world. After the success of the previous edition of the conference, the organizers have decided to repeat this initiative.
Today there is a need to analyze the complexity of the Arab and Muslim World using a multidimensional, and multi-disciplinary approach. Therefore the main goal of the conference is to broaden and promote knowledge about this region of the world. The conference will address four major dimensions of international relations in the Arab and Muslim World: Politics, Economy, Law, and Culture:
1. Politics, in particular:cooperation and contention in the Middle East and Muslim World (MENA) region; ideology and sectarianism in the Middle East and Muslim World; foreign policy of the Arab and Muslim states;
2. Economy, in particular: economic cooperation and integration; economic dilemmas in the internal policy of the Arab and Muslim states and in the international relations within this area; financial markets, Islamic banking and finance; business opportunities;)
3. Law, in particular: the legal systems of the Arab and Muslim states, Sharia Law dilemmas, legal customs in the Arab and Muslim world;
4. Culture, in particular:inter-social relations, religious customs in politics, economy and family life.

Call for Papers
The Registration Form is available at the conference website: www.arabconference.eu
The Call for Papers is opened until September 1, 2016. All submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the postconference book.

Important Information
The conference fee for participants is PLN 350 or EUR 80. For members of the Polish Association of International Studies the fee is PLN 250. The participants are requested to pay the fee by September, 15 2016. The conference fee is to be paid by bank transfer to the following account:

In the title of the transfer please provide: “Arab World Conference”, as well as name and surname of the participant. The conference fee covers the costs of the catering, conference materials and publishing of peer-reviewed post-conference book. Conference participants are to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
